Raising money for a charity is not an easy task, and often those involved are required to offer great dedication and commitment. However, helping those who are less fortunate is something truly rewarding. And, there’s no reason you can’t have a lot of fun in the process.
In this blog, we’re looking at some of the best ways to raise money for a charity, and how you can support worthy causes.
Get Sponsored
Whether it is for an event you’re taking part in, a sporting challenge you’re taking on, or perhaps you’ve decided to do something completely off-the-wall; sponsorships can be an excellent way for you to raise some big money. Events and themed days are always incredibly popular, and local businesses, more often than not, are happy to get involved with either sponsoring the event or providing prizes for raffles and competitions.
Ask your colleagues, friends and families to sponsor or take part in whatever you decide to do, with all the money going toward your chosen charity or cause.
Silent Auctions
A silent auction is pretty similar to a standard auction – however, in that scenario, people are not silent when bidding. During silent auctions, the auction items are displayed, and potential bidders are given a chance to scrutinise each item. The bidder will then put their name and an amount on a bid sheet or through our specialised tablet or iPad software, and at the end of the set period, the winner is the person with the highest bid.
Hold High Society Events
Holding a high society event is a great way to encourage people to get dressed up, socialise with new people and have a great time in the process.
Hotels, casinos and lounges can be great places to host an event of distinction. By featuring a wide range of entertainment, like comedy and singing and dancing, that appeals to a broad taste, you will be able to sell tickets and encourage attendees to bring along colleagues, clients, friends and family.
Raffle tickets can be sold to attendees, and prizes can include holidays, experience days, artwork and other fantastic prizes. As we’ve already mentioned, these prizes can often be obtained through local businesses that are willing to donate to a good cause.
Casino Nights – Holding casino nights can be a fun way to get people involved. Instead of everyone going out to play at a casino, bring the casino to you. Casino Nights can include games such as Texas Holdem and Blackjack among many others.
Gala’s – A gala is a classic way to get people together and raise money for charity – a gala consists of a special occasion and a variety of special performances, such as dancers.
Balls – The word “Ball” derives from the Latin word “ballare”, which means “to dance”. A ball is a fun way to get people active and involved – dance and socialise. A charity ball often consists of food, some champagne and a fancy environment.
At good2auction, we help to arrange silent auctions for events to help charities maximise on their fundraising efforts.
By working with various charities, we can offer a range of items for all silent auctions we host. These include artwork, hospitality days, holidays and more. We have already successfully helped numerous charities including Help for Heroes, Cancer Research and Action Medical Research.
